About
Greysen
Greysen was born and raised in San Diego, California. She attended schools within the San Diego Community College District to earn enough foundational credits to transfer to San Diego State University and pursue her Bachelors degree in Foods and Nutrition.
Greysen had a very active upbringing, she received an award as a tri-letter student athlete for her participation in varsity tennis, soccer, and lacrosse at her high school. Growing up as an athlete, a huge emphasis was always placed on properly fueling the body for sport, however she felt she could not grasp what was happening at a systemic level and what could influence that. Fundamental nutrition classes at San Diego Mesa Colleges answered those questions and reignited the love Greysen has for nutritional science to kickstart her educational career.

Greysen completed her undergraduate GE requirements at San Diego Mesa College. She transferred to San Diego State University where she received her BS in Food Science and Nutrition. She will receive her masters degree in community nutrition to further investigate whole-food initiatives that strive to pair public education with direct food access. Throughout her life Greysen has worked in the food service industry which provided an unobstructed view of the economic, cultural, and logistical barriers that shape everyday food choices throughout her community. Observing firsthand how cost, time constraints, and limited nutrition literacy can supersede health considerations. This firsthand experience of the pressures of food-service paired with the course curriculum escalated the practical realities of preparation, operational insights, consumer acceptance, and barriers that arise.
The future is bright for Greysen’s education. She anticipates a change in scenery for her masters degree where she hopes to completed a dual masters- internship program before entering the world as a RD.
